Fun with trucks

This morning we loaded the U-Haul. We had a great group of people, mostly guys admittedly, who came out to help. It was very obvious very quickly that we weren't going to get much more than half our stuff into the truck. I made some calls, found another truck....this time Budget and IN TOWN, even if almost twice the price of the first...so off I went to pick up my second moving truck in two days. And soon after returning to the house, it was loaded too. One will go to the storage unit and one will go to the apartment. Not a bad deal.

I now sit on the floor in an almost completely empty house. We still have our internet and wireless router hooked up so we're not all the way stranded. M and I will be sleeping on the floor tonight though, as we forgot to hold out the air mattress. Oops. Braska has her Pack N Play and Mom has the mattress to a bed we're not taking. The garage has alot of stuff in it that is not going. At present I'm planning to return for a yard sale...that may change. Goodwill may get a call and offer for all of it.

I'm so very tired. So worn out from thinking about what goes where and managing to keep everyone busy. All our help was GREAT! They really went above and beyond. We did have one incident of heat stroke, one slight electrocution, and lots of paint fumes, but all are well at the end of the day. We couldn't have done it without you all!

Now we clean top to bottom. It's 7 pm and we've got a long way to go. I can't imagine we'll be actually ready to go by 11 in the morning. But we will. Somehow we will. And my only hope is that I get to sleep between now and then!!

Oh, and for those of you who empathized with my missing of Belle, thank you. She's going to be with them indefinitely. That's her new home. If things don't work out for them for any reason, they'll be calling me, but I think she'll be good. I miss her, and I'll miss her interaction with Braska too. But it was good she wasn't here today. She'd have gone nuts with all the people and action.

  1. Oh, hugs to you, RK. I am sorry to hear Belle won't be living with you anymore, but it sounds like she will have a great home. I am sure she will be much loved.

TRY to get a little sleep at least. I am sending energy your way!

  2. I am so feeling for you right now. This brings up so many memories of moving. It's such a stressful time. I hope it goes smoothly for you from here on. The truck thing is always a challenge!

  3. Hey, I'm trying to think of something comforting and helpful to say, and not coming up with much. Mostly I'm just amazed at all the upheaval you guys have been through, and are still going through. I hope you get a moment or two to relax, and soon. Hang in there. I'm sorry about your dog, although it sounds like the best possible way to handle things.

  4. I agree with the fact that even though it's really hard, that it was probably handled the best possible way. so sorry for you.

Ummm.....heat stroke, electrocution and paint fumes????? oh my gosh!

I do hope you get things done in time to leave and time to rest before that happens. I feel tired thinking of it all. Something good is on the other end, though.

  7. Way to go! I knew you could do it. Now hopefully you will have some down time to rest up. Don't tackle any major jobs for awhile. :)

Oh happy day, Less question mark!

As a follow up to yesterday's post, I got word today that we will NOT be assigned to the new guy, but we will have an experienced coordinator after all. I feel SO much better. I also learned some other info today that made me think I still have some kinks to work out, so I'll be taking care of that this next week. I'll be SO glad when this transition/IEP stuff is behind us. I want to do the very best I can, but there's part of me who wants to just hide and let it all happen without me.

31 for 21: What to say

I have encountered plenty of people who ask "How old is she?" when Braska and I are out together here and there. They always guess her age about 5 months younger than she is, but that's ok, since that's what size she is. I have said several times that I can imagine it will bother me a bit more, although still not a huge deal, when she turns one next month and I see their reaction to that, as she still is in her car seat/carrier when we're in a restaurant or in a store since she doesn't sit up. Today, I met some friends for brunch. The waitress was a nice enough, very young girl, and she started cooing at Braska right away. That's nice. I don't mind, Braska likes the attention, and I'm proud of my cutie. The waitress asked her age, and I told her 11 months. She then said, "But she's not walking yet?" as she noticed that she was up to the table in her car seat/carrier. I just agreed and said, "Not yet." She said she h

Was there a line??

I assume that you went to vote, either today or earlier if possible. I expect that of you, know that straight up. How long did you wait in line?? And throw in the state you voted in, just for fun. I'm really curious if all areas have a big wait or if it's just the more congested ones. I voted Friday absentee/in person, and we waited about 15 mins or so. It moved VERY fast for a big line. There's just one place in our very populated county to do the absentee/in person voting, and it wasn't bad at all for what I thought it might be. If you haven't, GO VOTE people... again, please just know what you're voting for, either way. You may just have to live with your choice. God Bless America!!
