31 for 21: KiKi the reader

Kinlee is so interested in learning, just like her sister.  (Letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and many sight words…these were all favorites and she had them down before she was 2.)  The difference is that it comes SO much easier to Kinlee than Braska .  Because we work on these things a lot for Braska’s sake, KiKi has become as interested in the constant “teachyness” of how we do most all activities. So here she is, at 32 months.  One of her favorite activities recently is for someone to write her a story about our family or what’s going to happen that day.  Then she reads it.  That’s it.  She loves to read.  And *finally* (ha! at 2 1/2?)) she’s able to do it largely herself at the “easy reader” level.  This is one I just jotted down while we were making our grocery list this morning, and this is not after rehearsal and repeated practice. We’re proud. No doubt.  I hope her interest in all things learning and educational wil...

31 for 21: Mini Audition

The girls both know the entire fight song for the Chicago Bears. Every word, though they might not know what they all mean.  (T-formation??) We sing it often, and the request it in the car many days on the way to school. Give us time, they’ll be pros and experts on all things football before ya know it. Rach caught this today, after the girls had performed the entire song with me spontaneously but we hadn’t captured it on video.  I still hope to get them to do the whole thing… it’s darn adorable.  Anyone out there from the Bears organization?? Comp us some great suite tix and we’ll bring this action to you live! Until then, here’s a snippet.  If you want to see still pics of the day, Braska’s got you covered over there .

My pretty princess flower girl

SO much happening lately. A weekend of family reunion for my side of the family, followed by the next weekend of in-laws a-plenty for M's brother's wedding. That was this past Saturday. Tons of pics and stories and I'm sure I'll forget something I want to remember. I'm glad it all went pretty well, and I'm glad it's over. I'm worn out, and I'm ready for some simple family-of-four time at home. Not that I don't love our families, because we are pretty blessed as that goes. But wow, that was alot of time in a short little span. So now it's time to decompress! I'm working on getting all the photos/videos uploaded to share with all you lovely family members. Thanks for being patient. They'll be ready soon. In the meantime, here's some of the cutest moments of the day Saturday in video form. (If you have trouble seeing the video, refresh the blog page, and if it still won't work for you, let me know, please! Email is in ...

Best laugh in a LONG time

Do NOT miss this... thanks to Karol for sending this to me. M and I just sat on the couch and were in TEARS laughing the whole time!! Seriously...totally the endorphins you're gonna need today! (The funniest part for us?? This girl is just like Kinlee...she talks in that same even rhythm, goes from smiling to crying in seconds, and notices random elements around her. It cracked us up! Guess it's considered impressive for an almost 2-year-old, but maybe not for a teen? ha!)

Kinlee-isms #3 and evidentiary video

K: Mom, I don’t have a button in my belly. RK: Well, you do have one button, you just don’t have two like Braska. K: I want to have two buttons. Where is my other button? --------- K: Mom, I need you to open the cab’net. It’s too hard for me. RK: I’ll help you in just a minute. K: I want you to help me now, please. I don’t want you in a minute. --------- K: Snoopy is a good dog. And Blue is a good puppy. RK: Yes, honey, they are. K: I love Snoopy, Mom. RK: That’s good, KiKi. Snoopy is pretty cool. K: Belle is a good dog, too, Mom. RK: Yes, KiKi, Belle is a good dog. K: I love Belle, Mom. She’s a good dog. -------- When singing any song in the car or around the house, if Braska starts to chime in too… K: Braska’s singing my song, Mom. I don’t want her to sing my song. RK: It’s not your song, Kinlee, we can all sing the song. Braska can sing and Mommy can sing and KiKi can sing. All together. K: We can sing all together. Everybody sing the song? RK: Yes, it’s everybody’s song. K: I don’t...

Clearly illogical

(Side note: Our AC is back on. Thank goodness!!!) This was posted on one of the DS forums I visit.  I’ve often thought about this dichotomy in our laws, but I’ve not been able to compile it quite so concisely.

This is getting off on the right foot

I saw this on Renee's blog and it's now been flooding everywhere. But since I know some of you don't keep up with such current issues, (yeah, you know who you are...tee hee) I thought I'd put a link here. A very wise person close to me said this about it..."I'm pretty sure that is what God really intends when people get married." So get ready for the party of 11/11/11, for the few of you who know what that day will bring... it's gonna be something to see!! Totally worth a watch, or two... click here .

DSA of Central Texas

They've done a pretty great video... worth a watch. There's something different about it from others that might be similar...something I can't put my finger on, but I like it. Down Syndrome in the 21st Century from oppforce on Vimeo .

I Rarely Ask, but...

...I'm asking for a few minutes of your time. If you don't have those minutes now, mark this page as a favorite (you too, Reader addicts) and come back very soon. I've been introduced to these videos via other blogs or emails recently, and even though I often pass right by opportunities like this, I'm glad, in this case, I did not. I simply cannot tell you how much these songs mean to me, and to have such beautiful images to go along with them... they are indelibly etched in my mind, and I'm glad they are. Make sure it's quiet for a moment, pay attention to only one thing for just this moment. Listen to the lyrics. Enjoy the visual creativity. Lyrics--Casting Crowns/Who Am I Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth Would care to know my name Would care to feel my hurt Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star Would choose to light the way For my ever wandering heart BRIDGE Not because of who I am But because of what You've done Not because of what I've ...
