Simulpost: Heading south

It's big news time--We're moving to St. Louis. Well, actually St. Charles, just NW of St. Louis. It's where I lived before we got married 7 1/2 years ago and I moved to Champaign. It's where M got a new job, just finalized yesterday after a whirlwind process that only began late last week.

It's a bittersweet time, as we will miss Champaign a whole lot. This is the longest I've lived anywhere in my life, and that's something. It's been very good to us, and sometimes it's been a little cruel to us, but that's life in this world. All in all, I will think on my time here very fondly.

We are excited about being close to family, close to friends in that area, close to Braska's doctors, eliminating the trips down for appointments and such, trading a 3 hour drive for about 30 minutes to downtown. The new job is very good, and it seems like it will be an easy transition for M to slide right into. He starts in 2 weeks, so the chaos will be overwhelming for a while, but in the end, I really believe life will be much simpler and that's a BIG deal to me.

Big kudos to my husband for making this move. He is not a fan of change, to say the least, but he is putting his family--specifically Braska's best interest--first, and for that I'm immeasurably grateful.

More details will come as we know them. It's all so very fresh still. So far things have been miraculously smooth, so we know this is the right path to take.

(While I blabber on, here's how M announced it.)

  1. OH!!! One of my best Friends live in O'Fallon..I wonder if that is near there...Good luck with your move!

  2. Wow! Big changes! And as for Muncher's announcement - at least he's succinct! Too funny.

Sounds like a good move, though & good to cut down on travel time for medical care or glasses!

  3. Good for you! You know Dana and Ryan Rice live there now too. Maybe we could have a reunion!!

  4. A big ol' shoutout to you guys from the Mieses. Congratulations! We're heading to Children's next week for an eye appt ourselves . . .

Wishing you lots of joy and peace during the moving process.

  5. Wow....I guess we won't be seeing much of you for the next 2 weeks. I'll miss your little updates!
(I'm happy she won't be sleeping under the tv
I loved your husband's blog...really loved the baby bag!
    Best wishes in your move.

  6. Welcome back to MO. Hope to see you every once in awhile. :)

    Mom Howell

  7. Congratulations on your pending return to the Show Me! state. However, if you think that moving farther away from us will prevent us from visiting, you are sadly mistaken;)

  8. We love you guys and are so excited for this new adventure!! Talk to you soon.

  9. You suck.

    No really.

OK, I'm just sad and being selfish for losing you.

  10. SWEEEET! we will only be 7ish hours now, although i still think that is far enough away to be in the "dead to me" zone :)

  11. Well, hello from the other side of the state. I may have been dragged across the state line to Kansas, but I'll always be a Missouri girl at heart! I hear St. Louis has an excellent Buddy Walk. It sounds like it will be a good move for you since you are always having to travel there for Braska.

  12. You know I'm happy for you both and excited for what God has in store...but what about me? I'm going to miss you all so much! :)

    Love ya! :)

  13. You super suck

I'm letting Sophie keep all the clothes.

Ok. I'm sort of kidding. Don't Jen and I get visitation rights or joint custody?

  14. How exciting! I love moving. Well except the actual packing and moving part. Sounds like this move will simplify some things.

  15. such exciting news for you guys - congrats! sounds like everything is working out as it should be...praying everything continues to go smoothly!

  16. Congrats on your move! If you need anything, we're just around the corner...give Jason or I a call! 636-327-5348

Oh happy day, Less question mark!

As a follow up to yesterday's post, I got word today that we will NOT be assigned to the new guy, but we will have an experienced coordinator after all. I feel SO much better. I also learned some other info today that made me think I still have some kinks to work out, so I'll be taking care of that this next week. I'll be SO glad when this transition/IEP stuff is behind us. I want to do the very best I can, but there's part of me who wants to just hide and let it all happen without me.

Streamlining the Blogs

I know it's been forever, and yes, Facebook is much to blame.  For as long as I held out and didn't join, now I see it's simplicity (and it's ability to suck up all my online time!!). BUT--After much pondering, I've decided I'm not giving up on blogging! Sometimes a narrative or story will be better served in a blog format, so I'm combining blogs into one.   Intentional Family  is our new all-in-one blog for the goings on of our family, Braska's progress, celebrations, and challenges, as well as the amazing rise of little sister Kinlee. Other places you could check out if you so choose would be our new business  Larae Photography LLC on Facebook  or on the web at , or the page for my hobbies-gone-busy  Just RK Designs . So if there ARE any blog readers still out there, please come on over to the new place and join up for the ride.  All the old posts from the 3 previous blogs will be there soon so you can catch up if you need to

To add to the fun—a tongue spot

Wow… that was the most negative post I’ve done in a while. sorry about that, but it’s where I am sometimes lately. So very frustrated. It comes and goes. I usually try to hide it because it’s not pretty, but I’m too worn out to sugar-coat today. Because we didn’t have enough fun things to wonder about, I found this on Braska’s tongue this morning.  It’s a fairly large white spot.  It won’t scrape off with a Nuk brush, doesn’t move.  A close-up for your viewing pleasure. Ideas?  I’ve already been Googling and perusing my medical resources (my years in medical practices comes in so handy sometimes) but I don’t find much that matches this. It’s not a tonsillolith—the white spots sometimes seen in and around the throat and tonsils.  It’s much larger than a taste bud or two that’s swollen.  So I’m not sure.  Related to the upper respiratory issues?  Who knows…
