The Reason

Moving is no fun. Packing and unpacking is not enjoyable work. Leaving a life and a place we loved for a place we don't really know is scary. Missing friends and coworkers we liked so much is painful. Giving up something I'd dreamed about and never thought I'd actually have in my backyard is really hard. (I love this pic, just had to share...so clear and blue.)

Why did we do it? Why would we up-end our whole life? What could possibly cause us to do such a thing?

Nuff said.

Besides that, we're glad to have you all closer!! Is that selfish? If it is, I'm not sorry :o)

  3. She is so beautiful and I understand doing what you need to do for your child.

We had moved into a new home a year before Rylie was born. We bought the house from my husbands family and it was a great big house that we loved! And our mortgage payments were dirt cheap! However the school district was awful! We weren't worried about the school district because we were sending my oldest to a private school. When Rylie came along we soon realized that the private school was not going to accept Rylie. There was no way I could let her go into the horrible school district, so we had to move. We didn't move far(just outside the city), but we had to settle for a much smaller house w/ an expensive mortgage. Now that she is actually getting ready to go to school in the fall, I can say it was so worth it, because our new school district is wonderful.

I pray you have many blessing and much happiness in your new location!

  5. What good parents! Moving for what's best for Braska :) While you will continue to miss old friends and coworkers, remember there are new friends and coworkers to meet. God never closes one door without opening another.

  6. Nuff Said, indeed!

And she looks so grown up lately! I mean, not like a teenager, but Braska's definitely not a baby anymore.

  7. Braska is beautiful!

Where did you find glasses that fit her gorgeous face correctly? Dillon's are HUGE and they are the smallest we could get at Clarkson.

  8. I fully get this. I had to change alot and give up some dreams and make new ones in the past few years. I did some of it kicking and screaming but at the end of the day when I hear "I love you Mommy" It certainly is all worth it!

31 for 21: What to say

I have encountered plenty of people who ask "How old is she?" when Braska and I are out together here and there. They always guess her age about 5 months younger than she is, but that's ok, since that's what size she is. I have said several times that I can imagine it will bother me a bit more, although still not a huge deal, when she turns one next month and I see their reaction to that, as she still is in her car seat/carrier when we're in a restaurant or in a store since she doesn't sit up. Today, I met some friends for brunch. The waitress was a nice enough, very young girl, and she started cooing at Braska right away. That's nice. I don't mind, Braska likes the attention, and I'm proud of my cutie. The waitress asked her age, and I told her 11 months. She then said, "But she's not walking yet?" as she noticed that she was up to the table in her car seat/carrier. I just agreed and said, "Not yet." She said she h

Oh happy day, Less question mark!

As a follow up to yesterday's post, I got word today that we will NOT be assigned to the new guy, but we will have an experienced coordinator after all. I feel SO much better. I also learned some other info today that made me think I still have some kinks to work out, so I'll be taking care of that this next week. I'll be SO glad when this transition/IEP stuff is behind us. I want to do the very best I can, but there's part of me who wants to just hide and let it all happen without me.

BabyLegs Giveaway

That's right! A BabyLegs Giveaway!! BUT...this giveway has an extra dose of generosity required for the participants. Can you handle it? BabyLegs has been so great to us, and they have surprised me once again! It all started back when the superb Tricia and Little Miss G sent Braska a pair many moons ago. We'd seen them on a few of our little blog friends, and I thought they were adorable. And the idea of keeping Braska warm while being able to access her g-tube without having to undress her was very appealing. So when we received our surprise pair from our friends out East, we were just plain giddy! I quickly ordered several more pairs to go with her wardrobe. It didn't take anytime at all for BabyLegs to become my standard gift at baby showers, and I especially loved sending them to moms that I found who had fresh little new babies with DS. They're perfect for everyday with a long-sleeved onesie, they are great under a little dress, and they are so helpful with thera
