31 for 21: Comments on sleeping locations

The precious Little Miss D’s mom recently made reference to the fact that her little one hadn’t ever slept in a crib.  I asked her about it because, well, I’m just nosy that way. Today she replied and explained a bit more…  and it brought up something I’ve been meaning to discuss anyway.  What were the sleeping locations for your kids when they were babies? Same room, different bed? Same bed? Different room altogether? (That one’s my fave!!) Or just wherever the heck they wanted to sleep? So my comment is below… share your experience.  The same for all your kids? Or did your kiddo with DS do anything different in the sleep realm? I find this stuff really interesting. Thanks for explaining!! :o) I can't stand to have the girls in the same room, let alone in my bed.  I'd never get a wink of sleep... every breath, every little sound wakes me.  And that doesn't make for a pleasant mommy the next day! So Braska was in our room for a few w...

Easter afternoon naps

We had a nice morning, church with family, then down here to my sister's house for lunch and egg hunting.  The girls have been good and seem to be enjoying their first actively-easterish Easter.  More pics soon on Braska's blog... For now, the girls are napping in their rooms, as they claim the extra rooms at Auntie's house.  It is time to just relax...

Naptime 11 . 01 . 2010

Usually “Naptime” posts are just pictures, but I’m loving this too much not to share the backstory. Today is the first day of the “trio” days. Jack is here with us from before school to after naptime. The girls are LOVING it, let me just say. Jack is having fun, but the poor guy is just about henpecked already. I tried to be a bit of a buffer, but he is quite enough boy to take care of himself, too. School drop off and pick up went well. I didn’t rush, just let it go as it went. (That’s new for me…I’m learning!) Lunch went well, and the kids played some before nap. Jack was VERY excited to get to Skype with his mommy and daddy before nap, though it would have been more fun for him if I had my webcam so he could SEE them. But he chatted and smiled a lot. And can I just say, I’m still pretty impressed with the tech availability in the world. It’s neat that I can just push a button, “call” Julie over there in Far Away Land, and we chit chat like normal. (Except Allan was listeni...

Best option for learning

Well, well, well… it’s been a very interesting couple of days. Thanks to all of you who have given input on the afternoon school versus nap situation.  I’ve really appreciated all the different perspectives and it’s been good to think through a variety of things. Before I give you the latest, I’ll answer a couple of questions… Bedtimes : The girls go to bed between 8 and 8:30p usually closer to the 8:30p mark.  It’s rarely much later than 8:30p unless we’ve been away from home for the evening for some reason.  One thing to consider regarding bedtimes with Braska is that she is tube fed for the majority of her nutrition, and her intake is limited to the volume she can hold at any one feeding.  We don’t use a pump, so she just gets bolus gravity feeds 4 times a day in addition to whatever she might eat orally.  But she ALWAYS needs a feeding right before bed to get her calories and fluids in for the day.  She simply cannot tolerate all her required am...

Heavenly Peace

It was short-lived. I’m worn out, but we made it through the day, as we always do.  I just wish I could learn the skills to keep things more level all the time instead of these little valleys surprising me occasionally.  To help me not feel so bad about complaining about my girls, who I AM aware are really not very high on the challenging scale of toddlers in the real world, I thought I’d show off some of their more peaceful moments lately.  6/29 Naptime Love those little fingers in the blanket. Braska used to do the same thing. 7/4 Naptime.  Kinlee seemed to enjoy having the puppy on her head.  Later on 7/4… Miss K in Mommy’s shades. 7/6 Naptime. (And yes, our headboard is a mattress.) Sleep tight, my little beauties. (And if you didn’t see the fun little videos of sisterly interaction on Braska’s blog , go check those out, too.  It’s fun to watch them learn to play together.)

Naptime 06-16-10

Little Miss Drama even poses in her sleep. Priceless.

Naptime 5-21-10

Today has been a full day, and the girls are snoozing very peacefully.  They were late to nap because we picked M up from work after lunch… he got to leave early because it’s his last day! New job starts on Monday! (More about that later…if I remember.)  I went in to check on Braska a bit ago, since it’d been almost 2 hours since she went to sleep—much longer than her usual 1-hour nap.  She was still zonked.  And cute as a bug.  She often sleeps all tucked in under herself, but today she’s relaxed and sprawled out. Pure peace. And Daddy, who loves any reason to nap, especially with his little downsie, couldn’t resist crawling in by her for a little rest himself.

Naptime 5-19-10

After she wakes up from her nap, Braska hangs out for a while in my bed--where she naps while KiKi sleeps in B's bed due to better light and sound situations during the day--and she finds all kinds of comfy positions to relax. What? You can't kiss the bottom of your foot ?

Naptime 5-18-10

Sweet snoozing Braska. When everything else makes me want to throw in the towel and head for the hills, rocking her and singing her to sleep calms me down. This girl is no accident.

Naptime 5-14-10

Kinlee again. Friday she slept all covered up. It was more chilly and she loves her blanket. Karen K--She is rough on it but it is starting to travel around the house with her. Braska has never had a special doll or blanket that she wanted beyond the bed. Its kind of fun to see KiKi toddle around dragging her blanket just like Linus, over the shoulder.

Naptime 5-13-10

Naptime 5-13-10 I'm thinking this will be a new feature. "Naptime" Pictures of the girls sleeping. Really for my amusement alone, but that is ok with me. Someday I might want to look back and see them. Kinlee is the one with the most interesting sleeping habits lately. So we will start with her.
