Round 6-- Truly random!! I've just got some weird stuff bouncing around in my head today, so enjoy!

1. How's your closet? Do you use all the same kind of hangers? Wire, plastic, or wood? Do you hang everything in the same direction, like all shirts facing the same way?

2. Are you a channel flipper or a commercial watcher? OR do you get up and do a quick task during commercials? OR are you a DVR addict who never watches a commercial because you never watch shows as they actually air?

3. Have you ever looked at your house after a holiday and truly debated just packing a suitcase and walking away?

4. How do you keep your kids, especially the under 2 crowd, calm during long road trips? Ever considered a "travel nanny"?

5. Do you notice typos in other blogs, articles, or even handwritten notes or cards? Or let your brain skim the text for the concept and skip the details of spelling and grammar?

1. I like things facing the same way. I use mostly plastic hangers, and I prefer the heavy-duty ones. At one time, I had only white and green, to match my bedroom decor, but that's fallen by the wayside a while back. Now, in Braska's closet, she does have white, red, and yellow, matching her nursery colors. All dresses, shirts, etc, face the left in our closets. And I organize things from left to right with tank tops, short sleeves, long sleeves, button down, dresses, and then pants, as far as my part of the closet goes.

2. We are DVR addicts in our house. Rarely do we watch anything that's not recorded. So we fast-forward through all commercials. When we watch TV at friend or family houses without DVR, we feel a little lost. It's amazing how much we get spoiled by being able to pause and rewind whenever we miss something or need to run for a diaper change.

3. Yes, this morning. It's really, really bad. I've no motivation today either!

4. I'm looking for suggestions...open to ideas. I actually am actively talking to a possible travel buddy for Braska and to assist me in the whole process. She comes very highly recommended!!Braska's been so great for all these many trips, but she's not so happy to just sit for 3 hours anymore. I need more hands and a longer reach.

5. I am the worst at "auto-editing," as I call it. I constantly review and fix errors in my head when I'm reading articles, blog posts, and even birthday cards! And if I catch a typo in my own posts, I must fix it immediately, no matter what I'm in the middle of. Editing is part of my job, so it's just in my blood these days. I do feel a little petty when I'm noticing little things in other blog posts. But it's hard not to notice...it's just so *there*!

Wow...I'm finding that these questions sure bare some of my neuroses!! Help me out...tell me I'm not the only one!!

  1. 1. How's your closet? Do you use all the same kind of hangers? Wire, plastic, or wood? Do you hang everything in the same direction, like all shirts facing the same way?

My closet has a mixture of hangers, but mostly the white plastic ones. I try to hang everything in the same direction and I like to group things together too (skirts, shirts etc...)

    2. Are you a channel flipper or a commercial watcher? OR do you get up and do a quick task during commercials? OR are you a DVR addict who never watches a commercial because you never watch shows as they actually air?

I love my DVR and usually use that. If I happen to be watching a show live then Ii just get up and do something when a commercial turns on.

    3. Have you ever looked at your house after a holiday and truly debated just packing a suitcase and walking away?

    YES!!!!

    4. How do you keep your kids, especially the under 2 crowd, calm during long road trips? Ever considered a "travel nanny"?

The portable DVD player is a HUGE help, we make frequent stops and listen to lots of kids music.

    5. Do you notice typos in other blogs, articles, or even handwritten notes or cards? Or let your brain skim the text for the concept and skip the details of spelling and grammar?

I usually notice typos - I do a lot of proofing at my job, so I tend to not be able to turn that part of me off.

  2. 1. I have some organization, for the most part I have pants together, skirts, shirts, etc. but I don't have cmatching hangers (plastic mostly) and not always facing in same direction.

    2. Mostly DVR watcher. If I'm watching it live, I usually pause to run errand at commercial so I can then fast forward it.

    3. Diva pointed out Easter morning I still have Christmas decorations up on top of the kitchen cabinets. This is why I hate decorating for holidays!

    4. Don't know, but good luck. I'm glad Peanut is getting older and pays attention to the DVD better, but this summer we're driving to Florida (14 hours) so that should be interesting. I'm a little scared!

    5. I notice them and I hate it when I go back and read my blog and find them. I usually just laugh when I find them on other blogs, but really hate when I have them!

  3. 1. Ok, my closet is a total disaster right now. It ususally ends up that way at the end of one season becuase I don't organize it except when I'm switching summer and winter clothes over. I have mostly plastic hangers, but different kinds of plastic. I am going through the try something on, hate it, put something else on, hate it, and revert back to good ol' sweats anyway. I just never get around to putting any of the other things away, which I get on my kids for, so I guess I'm a hypocrite:o)

    2. I love my DVR. I use it a lot. The kids are addicted to it and try to "pause" everyone else's t.v. and don't understand why it doesn't work. If I have to watch something live, I usually get up and do something in between. They hubby is a total channel flipper which drives me nuts becuase he never gets back around to what we were watching in the first place.

    3. Holidays???? How about every day! No matter how much I clean, it always ends up a disaster by the end of the day.

    4. DVD player. My kids are great travelers for the most part, so I am thankful for that.

    5. I do notice them, but I am really careless myself with typos in every day stuff, emails, blogs, etc. I have to be careful with my work typing because that's pretty much in the job description, and that strict "boss" of mine is a real stickler about things like that:o) But I do thank God every day for spell check 'cause without it, I'd be lost. I wish this comment section had a spell check 'cause so far I've probably made like 180 mistakes!!

  4. Oh yeah, the one above is from me:o)

  5. 1. I do good to get my clothes in my closet. It is a true mess!! I do use plastic hangers. I have no organization in there at all. I guess the clothes I wear over and over are in the middle of my closet. Now, my husband on the other hand has everything sorted by color and type of clothing. It is a good thing we have seperate closets.
    2. DVR- there is nothing better!
    3. My house is a disaster...I have 3 boys...and I have had very little sleep.
    4. Benedryl and DVD player
    5. I am a terrible speller, always have been, always will be. I am sure you correct my things in your head all of the time. Not a big deal to me...I just skim over mistakes. :)

  6. WOHOO..I actually did it this week! LOL

  7. If you're weird, you got it from me!

    1. I have all white plastic hangers, semi-sorted into outfits according to season, all facing RIGHT.
Your youngest sibling groups things very neatly according to COLOR.
    2. I don't watch any show all the way thru; I catch glimpses as I travel past, doing housework or whatever. I stop occasionally just enough to keep up with the theme.
    3. Mess after a holiday?? How about most of the time!! Today we had our bathroom spray-mudded for texture and the shower was re-grouted. Toilet is out and cabinet is getting an oil job. Talk about a mess!! So when that one room is straightened up, I'll feel good and ignore the rest of the mess...
    4. I only had to deal with no travel buddy with you, but you were a great traveler. Then when your brother was born, he had a built-in travel buddy: YOU! :o) And so on down the line...
That doesn't mean the kids were contented ALL them time, tho :o( Do you remember the..."if I have to stop this car,..."?
    5. Typo's? Your dad will tell you I'm an extremely critical reader. What do you expect after grading school work for 24 years? If you read one of Dad's updates with a mistake, he forgot to have me check it.

  8. Melissa--I'm tellin' ya...sometimes it just seems easier to find another house than clean this one up after everyone's gone home!

Debbie--I used to love decorating for holidays, but the last 2 years it has seemed like more hassle than what it's worth. Sad, but true.

Misty--I can totally understand the girls trying to pause other people's TVs...so funny. And about those typos...a stickler I may be, but you're pretty good at catching them first. And yes, it's in the job description somewhere...at least I think so. :o)

Andrea--Girl...I don't know how you even have time to comment. I can't believe I haven't met those twins yet!!!!!

Jessie--And you too...how are you girls so quick to pop the babies out and get right back to life?!? Great post, too!

Christina--Glad you jumped in on the fun!!!

Mom--Facing the right?!? So wrong...it's just got to be facing the left, no relation to politics, for sure.

  9. 1. I ONLY have plastic hangers! I throw wire ones out. I can't stand them! I typically hang stuff the same way, but it doesn't bother me if they're mixed up.

    2. LOVE MY DVR! I don't know what we'd do without it! Even the kids are always saying, "Can you pause this for me?" Which we can't do at grandparents houses!

    3. We haven't had Easter yet, but I want to run away after most holidays. Or most weekends. Or after the 2 little ones had some virus for the last few days. I don't even need a suitcase - I just want to go to a hotel & SLEEP!

    4. Traveling? I'm bad at that. We stop a lot for Miss Ru.

    5. I used to be an English teacher! That was an entire lifetime ago - or so it seems.
So I notice typos or mistakes all the times. But what the heck, I make them all the time, too. I don't proofread what I write and my typing's not super.

  11. 1. I use all plastic hangers. (Was forced to use wire ones growing up cuz my dad's uniforms came back on them after being cleaned - he is a mechanic - and he is a waste not want not person, so we didn't get plastic hangers) Although I did just get some of those nice wooden pants hangers to hang them upside down and keep them nicer... liking those! Yes, I do hang all my clothes in the same direction and all of the same types are in their sections, just like yours! (no, you are not the only one!) It makes it so much easier to find what you are looking for that way!

    2. I tend to get up during the commercials to take care of whatever task is waiting on me.. time management!

    3. No, but I definately dread the cleaning up... And can't relax until it's done...

    4. This goes back to what I had said before, the dual screen portable DVD player works well for my girls!

    5. I ALWAYS notice typos on all sorts of things, you are not alone in this one, either! And I am in no way, shape or form an editor. I'm sure I do typos, also, but definately notice them frequently. I even notice goofs in movies, etc... kinda pride myself in noticing them. Does that make me weird?!?!

  12. 1. Closet is a mess, I use plastic and wire hangers. I have tried to hang shirts and pants etc together but then the next time i just hang it up because I had to hang clothes.

    2. Both and all of the above. If I am doing laundry I switch load during commercials, if not I flip mostly because of my husband, he doesn't like commercials.

    3. Most definately!

4.I agree with the portable DVD player..Evan faces forwards now and that helps.

5.Sometimes.. I just read over them...:)

Jessi- I work/ed with Muncher...I love to see what Braska is up to..:)

  13. OK I finally did them. No worries RK your not alone I think I need some therapy LOL or meds!

  14. 1. my closet is similar - all the clothes face one way, they are sorted by pants, short sleeves etc, and among that grouping they are sorted by color LOL

    2. We don't really pay a lot of attention to the commercials, but we don't channel flip either. We don't have DVR. I do watch some shows online which I like having very limited commercials.

    3. I always look at my house that way LOL It'll be nice when Joe retires from the air force and we own our own home.

    4. I never heard of a travel nanny! For Kayla we have a DVD player to keep her busy. We also buy a few things before a long car trip (like the one we took last summer) that are new for her to play with. We brought along magnets (you can use a small cookie sheet for that) viewfinder, binoculars, bubbles, color wonder markers/books.

    5. I usually notice typos everywhere - in other blogs, in emails, personal letters, magazines, newspaper (our local base paper is infamous for typos!) and it drives me crazy. It is a pet peeve of mine...so if you ever see a typo in my post PLEASE let me know LOL

31 for 21: What to say

I have encountered plenty of people who ask "How old is she?" when Braska and I are out together here and there. They always guess her age about 5 months younger than she is, but that's ok, since that's what size she is. I have said several times that I can imagine it will bother me a bit more, although still not a huge deal, when she turns one next month and I see their reaction to that, as she still is in her car seat/carrier when we're in a restaurant or in a store since she doesn't sit up. Today, I met some friends for brunch. The waitress was a nice enough, very young girl, and she started cooing at Braska right away. That's nice. I don't mind, Braska likes the attention, and I'm proud of my cutie. The waitress asked her age, and I told her 11 months. She then said, "But she's not walking yet?" as she noticed that she was up to the table in her car seat/carrier. I just agreed and said, "Not yet." She said she h

Little call, big letters

This will make more sense to you DS moms and families out there... I apologize for the cryptic nature, but you'll have to trust my reasoning. Braska had a lab draw on Tuesday last week. The GI called me Wednesday and said there were some significantly elevated levels in the results. Ok fine. Not like we've never had an abnormal lab. But then he used *those* words...the C word and the L word. Said he'd be talking to hem/onc. We needed to go redraw on Friday morning. We didn't freak or anything, but when I hung up the phone, I thought, "Wow, so that's what it's like the first time they mention it." We took her for her draw again on Friday morning, and we figured everything was fine since we got no call over the weekend. Yesterday I checked in with them. Dr. R confirmed that everything was clear, almost in a "weird way," but they checked with the lab to make sure it was a viable result. All is well. Follow up in 6 months as usual unle

Can I get a do-over?

If you are in need of a laugh at another's expense, I invite you to read on... really, it's totally ok. I can take it. This might end up long, but I wanna remember this special day. Oh so special... Today is my first day to have both girls and be on my own. Yeah, it's been two weeks, but I'm apparently slow at learning how to deal with this kind of thing. I knew it would be a challenge, but I thought with starting way early, we could make it. The quick ending is that we did make it...but that's not really the whole story. Kinlee's been sleeping til about 9 am or so after getting up twice in the night. That's ok, I'm dealing with it. But since Braska is supposed to be at school at 10 am on Mondays, I thought I better not sleep in like I prefer, and instead, I should get up and get things moving earlier to be sure we're on time. Not a problem, since Braska decided to be up twice last night in addition to Kinlee's two times. One time overlapped...so
