Tagged: 7 MORE things about me

Ok, here's the next batch of "things about me" per the tag from Mrs. Wibbs. I know you've all been waiting with bated breath.

1. I love Mexican food. But then again you know that if you read Braska's blog. Enchiladas, chicken fajitas, guacamole, GOOD salsa....I never get tired of it. Long live El Toro!!

2. If I have the choice between emailing someone and calling them, I'll almost always email. But my problem is that I assume that everyone is on their computers 18 hours a day like I am. And I don't understand why I don't have a response in 15 minutes!

3. I am not a fan of shopping....not for groceries or for clothes. I used to enjoy both somewhat, but now it is a hassle. I put off trips to the store for food way too often. And clothes....grrrr. That's all I have to say about that.

4. It is not unusual for me to go 3 or 4 days without leaving the house or even getting dressed. I'm great at getting out of the shower and just putting on the next pair of comfy pants and a sweatshirt that's next in the closet. PJs all day, every day. It's a blessing to work from home. I almost don't know how to act when I have to be publicly presentable.

5. I really need to do my taxes before April this year. It's kind of cumbersome with the business and all. I keep saying that I'll "have someone do it" each year, but never get it together in time. But since I always have to write a HUGE check, it makes sense that I'd put it off. Get all the interest I can before I ship it off.

6. I collect pandas, passively. Pandas have been collected for me since I was born. My collection expanded greatly when I met my husband, as it made for always an easy gift. So Braska's room is all panda-full...it seemed the obvious choice for a theme. I'm considering clearing out most of the collection, so if you know anyone who wants 1 or 100 pandas, let me know. I'm currently at about 60+ stuffed bears of all sizes, over 100 figurines, and various mugs, globes, glasses, puppets, toys, and even a couple of small tables.

7. I have had two good friends have babies in the last couple weeks...one in Belgium (Hi Baby Carmen) and one in Missouri (Hi Baby Millie). In the next several weeks, we'll have a set of twin boys and then another little boy. That's alot of babies...but it's about time we got some boys in the mix!

  2. You know, I could have written 1 - 4! I love Mexican food! (I'm trying to convince Brian to go get some for dinner!) I always email over using the phone! Shopping? Ick! (Except Target) and now we have so many nurses, etc coming over I usually get dressed ... but not always!

But my taxes? Always get those done the first week of February. It's a compulsion. I want my money! And sadly? TurboTax is pretty fun!

  3. #4 sounds like me, not PJ's, but sweats. Since I had Cesalie, I just can't stand to have to button anything.lol!

  4. Christina--We don't have those up here...I've actually never heard of them, but if they have great guacamole, I should put it on my list to watch for when traveling!

Michelle--I'm so bad, my therapists all come early in the morning, 2 of them at 8 am, so there's no way I'm dressed by then. Yoga pants and comfy long-sleeved shirts are my new "work wear." How did I ever make it to a "real job" by 8 am for all those years?? And if I was not having to pay IN a ton, I might do my taxes early too. :o)

Val--Thanks for the award. No buttons...love it! I'm anti-connectors all together. If I can pull it on or over, I'm out.

  5. I was just browsing Gymboree and thought of you. Did you know they have a whole line of panda baby clothes? Which are on sale right now?

I do applaud the idea of clearing the collection (I'm in declutter mode myself). But how cute are these panda shoes?

  6. Cate--Great tip! Just put in a little panda order. :o)

31 for 21: What to say

I have encountered plenty of people who ask "How old is she?" when Braska and I are out together here and there. They always guess her age about 5 months younger than she is, but that's ok, since that's what size she is. I have said several times that I can imagine it will bother me a bit more, although still not a huge deal, when she turns one next month and I see their reaction to that, as she still is in her car seat/carrier when we're in a restaurant or in a store since she doesn't sit up. Today, I met some friends for brunch. The waitress was a nice enough, very young girl, and she started cooing at Braska right away. That's nice. I don't mind, Braska likes the attention, and I'm proud of my cutie. The waitress asked her age, and I told her 11 months. She then said, "But she's not walking yet?" as she noticed that she was up to the table in her car seat/carrier. I just agreed and said, "Not yet." She said she h

Little call, big letters

This will make more sense to you DS moms and families out there... I apologize for the cryptic nature, but you'll have to trust my reasoning. Braska had a lab draw on Tuesday last week. The GI called me Wednesday and said there were some significantly elevated levels in the results. Ok fine. Not like we've never had an abnormal lab. But then he used *those* words...the C word and the L word. Said he'd be talking to hem/onc. We needed to go redraw on Friday morning. We didn't freak or anything, but when I hung up the phone, I thought, "Wow, so that's what it's like the first time they mention it." We took her for her draw again on Friday morning, and we figured everything was fine since we got no call over the weekend. Yesterday I checked in with them. Dr. R confirmed that everything was clear, almost in a "weird way," but they checked with the lab to make sure it was a viable result. All is well. Follow up in 6 months as usual unle

Can I get a do-over?

If you are in need of a laugh at another's expense, I invite you to read on... really, it's totally ok. I can take it. This might end up long, but I wanna remember this special day. Oh so special... Today is my first day to have both girls and be on my own. Yeah, it's been two weeks, but I'm apparently slow at learning how to deal with this kind of thing. I knew it would be a challenge, but I thought with starting way early, we could make it. The quick ending is that we did make it...but that's not really the whole story. Kinlee's been sleeping til about 9 am or so after getting up twice in the night. That's ok, I'm dealing with it. But since Braska is supposed to be at school at 10 am on Mondays, I thought I better not sleep in like I prefer, and instead, I should get up and get things moving earlier to be sure we're on time. Not a problem, since Braska decided to be up twice last night in addition to Kinlee's two times. One time overlapped...so
