1. What do you set your thermostat on in the winter? A toasty 78, chilly 62, or somewhere in between? Is it different from night to daytime?

2. Has this changed over the years? Are you adjusting your heat use this year due to heat costs/financial frugality?

3. If you have kids, are they cooperative with dressing warmer for the chilly times or do they still prefer to be in the least clothing possible?

4. What is your favorite item of cold-weather clothing?

1. We have our thermostat set on 66. Sometimes in the daytime if I'm feeling chillier than normal, I'll put it up to maybe 68. At night, it's back to 66 though. I love to be a bit cool in the sleeping time. Bundled up under comfy covers is good, but I often get too warm still and end up with them pushed back. M, on the other hand, cannot hardly BE too warm. He has a zillion pillows and covers to keep him toasty.

2. We are going for a cooler indoor temp this winter due to our overall spending-less situation with my not working. It's been fine so far. Not bad at all. Our first apartment after we got married was on the top floor in an old building, and we didn't hardly have to use heat. The place was always close to 80 in the winter no matter what the outside temp. I thought that was TOO hot, but M loved it. Then we we bought our house and had to start paying for our heat, we kept it at about 72 or so, down to 69 during the day when M was at work, as I didn't mind it. We had a fireplace that we used alot too to heat the room we spent alot of time in.

3. Braska is pretty cooperative. I leave her in the blanket sleeper she sleeps in for alot of the days when we're just at home all day. She doesn't like to leave socks on her feet, thanks to her father teaching her how to take them off, so her feet get cold if I'm not careful. Otherwise, she likes her hats for when we go out, and she does well with sleeping with her blanket. She actually doesn't seem to mind being cold at all, when she gets the chance... kind of strange.

4. I love sweats for the cozy at-home days, and I like my "cute boots" for fall and winter. Unfortunately, I've had to give them up (the boots) this season. My poor feet just don't do well in the heels this year. We're sticking with my comfy running shoes most of the time. Oh well...I don't think many people really seem to care what's on my feet anyway.

Ok people, DO tell!

  1. We keep our temp around 69 to 70, depending on if my husband is cold. I normally keep a blanket around for when I get cold. Evan also likes to take off his socks..and run around barefoot so I have tried to keep slippers on his tootsies.. I am not a big winter fan as I just don't like the gloomy days and the cold weather and most of all I don't like the snow..(Snow is only good if you get to go and play in it). Love the questions:)

  3. 1. What do you set your thermostat on in the winter? A toasty 78, chilly 62, or somewhere in between? Is it different from night to daytime?

    - Usually we are about 68-70

    2. Has this changed over the years? Are you adjusting your heat use this year due to heat costs/financial frugality?

    - We have crummy windows so we try to wear sweaters and layers so we don't waste too much heat.

    3. If you have kids, are they cooperative with dressing warmer for the chilly times or do they still prefer to be in the least clothing possible?

    - Both kids are pretty cooperative thankfully.

    4. What is your favorite item of cold-weather clothing?

Sweaters and hand knit socks :)

  4. I keep my heat at about 70...I don't like to be cold. Sometimes we turn it down a little at night, but I usually forget to do that. I try to dress the kids warm, Josiah refuses to leave his socks on...but I guess if he was cold, he would do something about it!!

  5. " 'Cause your hot n you're cold, your yes then your no, you're in then you're out, you're up then your do-own."...sorry, a little Katie Perry going on:)

    1. Our thermostate is set at 66 all day. Our house is always freezing, and we always have extra clothes on. But I refuse to pay $400/month for our heating, so there ya go!

    2. It was usually around 70ish most of the time, and it is usually warmer when we have had littler babies around, but now that the kids are older and can stay under blankies, it has gone back down...and yes....it changed due to cost.

    3. I always say that our kids were meant to be born in Florida becuase they hate all things winter as far as clothes go...hate coats, hate hats, socks, long-sleeved shirts, and they all hate pants. So...not so cooperative.

    4. I also have some snazzy boots which I call "hooker" boots:) they are calf-high, stilletto heeled boots...love 'em. But my favorite item is my new black wool coat that is a long trench coat style, black and belted. Think Angelina Jolie in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.....I'm SO Sydney Bristow in that thing!

Oh happy day, Less question mark!

As a follow up to yesterday's post, I got word today that we will NOT be assigned to the new guy, but we will have an experienced coordinator after all. I feel SO much better. I also learned some other info today that made me think I still have some kinks to work out, so I'll be taking care of that this next week. I'll be SO glad when this transition/IEP stuff is behind us. I want to do the very best I can, but there's part of me who wants to just hide and let it all happen without me.

31 for 21: What to say

I have encountered plenty of people who ask "How old is she?" when Braska and I are out together here and there. They always guess her age about 5 months younger than she is, but that's ok, since that's what size she is. I have said several times that I can imagine it will bother me a bit more, although still not a huge deal, when she turns one next month and I see their reaction to that, as she still is in her car seat/carrier when we're in a restaurant or in a store since she doesn't sit up. Today, I met some friends for brunch. The waitress was a nice enough, very young girl, and she started cooing at Braska right away. That's nice. I don't mind, Braska likes the attention, and I'm proud of my cutie. The waitress asked her age, and I told her 11 months. She then said, "But she's not walking yet?" as she noticed that she was up to the table in her car seat/carrier. I just agreed and said, "Not yet." She said she h

Was there a line??

I assume that you went to vote, either today or earlier if possible. I expect that of you, know that straight up. How long did you wait in line?? And throw in the state you voted in, just for fun. I'm really curious if all areas have a big wait or if it's just the more congested ones. I voted Friday absentee/in person, and we waited about 15 mins or so. It moved VERY fast for a big line. There's just one place in our very populated county to do the absentee/in person voting, and it wasn't bad at all for what I thought it might be. If you haven't, GO VOTE people... again, please just know what you're voting for, either way. You may just have to live with your choice. God Bless America!!
