Seriously...come on!

We have one car. Everyone knows that by now. We're adjusting pretty well, for the most part. This morning, M took it instead of us taking him to work because he needed to work off-site at another county location.

He called about an hour ago.

Ready for it?

Someone threw a brick through the passenger side front window and took our GPS and DVD player.

Seriously. I just sit here and shake my head. I keep saying, "We're going to figure it out," every time some new bizarre thing pops up with us. But I'd like a break from the figuring if it's ok.

ETA: Someone in the county building saw the action, called the cops with the description of the guy and the car he was in. They caught him. They got the electronics back. That's good, especially since the DVD had a Baby Signing Time from the library in it. It's now in evidence. Wow...I just had a real reason to say something of mine was "in evidence." Weird. Now to figure out how to take care of the window.

My super wonderful friend Julie has graciously offered to make her van available for us since they're not needing it this weekend. Once again, we'll figure it out. We'll get through. In the meantime, I just have to laugh or I'll cry, for sure.

  2. OMG! Come on people.. Seriously there is no reason to break into a car and steal a DVD play and GPS.. Some people just have no regards to others property.. Wishing you the strength to carry on:).. Email if you need to vent..

  3. good grief! I'm sorry you're having to deal with this rk - but thank the Lord it was witnessed and taken care of... hope the window is a minimal cost - wouldn't the guy who broke it be responsible for paying for it?? I sure hope so... although he doesn't sound like the most responsible guy on the planet to begin with!

  5. Thank you to Julie from us, too. (RK's mom and dad) You're a special friend.
Yes, Jessie, Missouri has a victim compensation program that should apply. BUT it may take a good while and some hassle to get it.

  7. Ugh. I always think The Hubs is being paranoid when he tells me to put everything away -- even the garage door opener! -- when I park the car. I guess not.

  8. Oh, man, RK. I'm so sorry.

Glad they caught the culprit, though.

  10. No one should steal a Baby Signing Time DVD and get away with it!

You just let me know if you need a new Baby Signing Time DVD... maybe an autographed one? I know people;)

  11. Really, really, that is not cool! So glad they caught him, and here's an idea maybe he can give you his car while yours is being fixed, i mean since he saw fit to break yours while his is still working and all. Just a little thought I had... so silly. Anyways, surely there is a way to make the guy pay for the damage, surely.

  12. People are jerks. Seriously make me so angry. Most people work hard for what they have, and just becase some are (several not so nice words) doesn't mean they should take or damage other people's property. I hope that guy, kid, whoever it was gets in a lot of trouble. Servers him right. Yea to the good looker outer person who called the cops!

Oh happy day, Less question mark!

As a follow up to yesterday's post, I got word today that we will NOT be assigned to the new guy, but we will have an experienced coordinator after all. I feel SO much better. I also learned some other info today that made me think I still have some kinks to work out, so I'll be taking care of that this next week. I'll be SO glad when this transition/IEP stuff is behind us. I want to do the very best I can, but there's part of me who wants to just hide and let it all happen without me.

31 for 21: What to say

I have encountered plenty of people who ask "How old is she?" when Braska and I are out together here and there. They always guess her age about 5 months younger than she is, but that's ok, since that's what size she is. I have said several times that I can imagine it will bother me a bit more, although still not a huge deal, when she turns one next month and I see their reaction to that, as she still is in her car seat/carrier when we're in a restaurant or in a store since she doesn't sit up. Today, I met some friends for brunch. The waitress was a nice enough, very young girl, and she started cooing at Braska right away. That's nice. I don't mind, Braska likes the attention, and I'm proud of my cutie. The waitress asked her age, and I told her 11 months. She then said, "But she's not walking yet?" as she noticed that she was up to the table in her car seat/carrier. I just agreed and said, "Not yet." She said she h

Was there a line??

I assume that you went to vote, either today or earlier if possible. I expect that of you, know that straight up. How long did you wait in line?? And throw in the state you voted in, just for fun. I'm really curious if all areas have a big wait or if it's just the more congested ones. I voted Friday absentee/in person, and we waited about 15 mins or so. It moved VERY fast for a big line. There's just one place in our very populated county to do the absentee/in person voting, and it wasn't bad at all for what I thought it might be. If you haven't, GO VOTE people... again, please just know what you're voting for, either way. You may just have to live with your choice. God Bless America!!
