Thoughtful sponge

This girl is smart. And she’s striking. Sometimes I just glance over and see her and MUST take a picture.  They never do justice to the moment. But still…

She kind of mindlessly chews on her thumb or fingers when she’s watching Word World or Sid the Science Kid or anything, really.   She watches so intently, taking it all in. There’s an occasional smile that flashes if something funny happens, but usually she is pretty focused.  PRETTY. Focused.

The coolest part, in this mom’s opinion?   This girl… this one below…

…when the show is over, she will come running and answer any question I throw at her about the show she just watched.  She gets it ALL. She has an amazing ability to comprehend and then recite the whole story in correct order.

My little thoughtful sponge. I just love watching her soak it all up.

  2. Much like her mommy:o) Glad you're selective about WHAT she is soaking up, too! Your dad switched what he was listening to when you began singing every word of a not-so-great song you heard.

  3. That girl is something special! You have two "sharpies." Now, what WAS that song I had to abandon? I'm sure I'll find out soon.

New Fave-o Site

Get a cup of good hot chocolate, put on your comfy clothes, and settle in with some non-rushed time to check out Dan Drinker's site . I can't even tell you how much I love watching these videos and reading what his family has written about him. I feel like I want to tune into the Dan Drinker 24-hour channel or something. Dan is a young man with DS who is living and loving life, and his younger brother Will captures much of it on video. It's priceless, in my opinion. I just love it. Check out the blog, watch some videos, tell them that you've been there. I wish this guy lived near me! The most recent post, about Breaking Up with Christine , is funny and poignant. Here's a couple of my other favorite videos so far... I've still got more to watch! His 7th Prom A Basketball Date with Sarah

Can I get a do-over?

If you are in need of a laugh at another's expense, I invite you to read on... really, it's totally ok. I can take it. This might end up long, but I wanna remember this special day. Oh so special... Today is my first day to have both girls and be on my own. Yeah, it's been two weeks, but I'm apparently slow at learning how to deal with this kind of thing. I knew it would be a challenge, but I thought with starting way early, we could make it. The quick ending is that we did make it...but that's not really the whole story. Kinlee's been sleeping til about 9 am or so after getting up twice in the night. That's ok, I'm dealing with it. But since Braska is supposed to be at school at 10 am on Mondays, I thought I better not sleep in like I prefer, and instead, I should get up and get things moving earlier to be sure we're on time. Not a problem, since Braska decided to be up twice last night in addition to Kinlee's two times. One time overlapped...so...
