Two down, dozens to go

Today was Kinlee’s birthday. She’s 2. As all parents say… it’s hard to believe she can be two.

But please…don’t tell her.

She thinks her birthday is Saturday, the day of her party. She knows all about it. She is excited about her party. She’s excited about her Snoopy cake. She is just excited about being 2.

We didn’t mention it at all today (save one almost slip by a particular almost-practically-a-sister teen…ahem). We discussed if we wanted to do a birthday today then a birthday party on Saturday, but we decided it might be confusing and it would be more fun to just have Saturday be “the birthday” all day.

All that said…I still felt a few photos were necessary to document the birthday. I mean, we don’t have any guarantees in this mortal life, so why not? There will be more after the party on Saturday, and maybe I’ll do a little mushy retrospective…but don’t hold your breath.

I don’t really like to do au naturel photos, but oh well. It’s what you do when it’s early and you want a couple bedhead pics. She was busy watching Word World, too busy to smile for a picture with Mom.

So tickling was in order…but that produces a fuzzy, funny-colored image. But of course, it’s still my fave.

We’ve come a long way, baby girl…

She’s freshly-2, going on 13. The girl is scary smart, SO expressive, ultra cool (when not ultra dramatic), really funny, and kind of mature for her age already. And those aren’t just Mommy’s brags, those are others’ opinions. We’re proud of our little bug.

So happy secret birthday, KiKi. I’m excited to see what the next year holds for you!

  2. I won't mention you wrote about the "slip" on the blog - the slip-er was pretty upset anyway :(.

We'll say Happy Birthday for real when Kiki (said in a super loud, Jackson-type voice) thinks it's the right day!

Streamlining the Blogs

I know it's been forever, and yes, Facebook is much to blame.  For as long as I held out and didn't join, now I see it's simplicity (and it's ability to suck up all my online time!!). BUT--After much pondering, I've decided I'm not giving up on blogging! Sometimes a narrative or story will be better served in a blog format, so I'm combining blogs into one.   Intentional Family  is our new all-in-one blog for the goings on of our family, Braska's progress, celebrations, and challenges, as well as the amazing rise of little sister Kinlee. Other places you could check out if you so choose would be our new business  Larae Photography LLC on Facebook  or on the web at  www.Larae-Photo.com , or the page for my hobbies-gone-busy  Just RK Designs . So if there ARE any blog readers still out there, please come on over to the new place and join up for the ride.  All the old posts from the 3 previous blogs will be there soon so you can catch up if you ...

Multi-mothering

Last week, Jen , Mark, and Sophie came to town for Sophie's ear tube placement at SLCH . We met up after the procedure at the Galleria so Jen could snag some shoes for Sophie (not that she was able to get what she wanted, unfortunately, but the Robeez Sophie got were super cute!). The double stroller we have is very good, it maneuvers very smoothly and opens and folds up really easily. Since it's so easy to deal with, I thought I'd add another task or two to the situation... Most of you know that you can click on the pictures in any post and they'll open up bigger. But in case you can't see clearly enough... Is there a law against driving a double stroller with one hand while holding a newborn with the other while holding the bottle with my chin?? (No, but there should be a law against that double chin that is created with this position!)
